The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) will re-implement the Economic Census in 2026. The economic census is an activity once every ten years to collect data on business actors throughout Indonesia.
As a form of BPS's preparation and readiness in implementing the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026), BPS held a Technical and Administrative Coordination Meeting for the Preparation of SE2026 in Surabaya, November 19-21, 2024. The meeting was attended by BPS representatives throughout Indonesia.
The President Secretary of BPS, Imam Machdi opened the activity and expressed his appreciation to all ranks of BPS in the implementation of the SE2026 Trial this year. Imam also emphasized the importance of collaboration with the business world and business associations in the success of SE2026. "Business actors and associations have a vital role in the success of SE2026. The active participation of business actors and associations not only helps the implementation of the census, but also strengthens the validity of the data," explained Imam.
To provide an overview and view of the role of SE2026 in Indonesia's economic policy, a panel discussion was held by presenting Assistant Deputy for Economic Competitiveness Improvement of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Ichsan Zulkarnaen and Director of Industry, Tourism and Creative Economy of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Wahyu Wijayanto. The discussion was guided by the Director of Distribution Statistics of BPS, Sarpono.
The coordination meeting was also inaugurated by the SE2026 Coordination Task Force (Garda) which is tasked with coordinating the implementation of SE2026. This inauguration is one of the symbols that BPS is ready to implement SE2026!
