Tulude and the Lifting of the Stone

The Head of BPS of the Siau Tagulandang Biaro Islands Regency attended the Tulude and Mahebing Datu ceremonies organized by the local government of Siau Tagulandang Biaro. These events are part of the cultural traditions of the Sitaro people, serving as expressions of gratitude and reverence for ancestral customs. The Tulude Ceremony is an annual tradition that marks the transition of the customary year for the Sangihe and Sitaro communities. The procession begins with a communal prayer, the delivery of the meaning behind Tulude, and the ceremonial cutting of a traditional cake called “Tamo.”

On the same occasion, the traditional Mahebing Datu ceremony was also held, which signifies the inauguration of the new regional leaders—the Regent and Vice Regent. Regent Chyntia Kalangit was bestowed the honorary traditional title “Inang Ambia Datu Tahanusang Karangetang Mandolokang Kolo Kolo,” while Vice Regent Heronimus Makainas received the title “I Amang Sangele’U Datu Tahanusang Karangetang Mandolokang Kolo Kolo.” These traditional titles are a mark of respect from the indigenous community to their leaders, accompanied by the hope that they will safeguard and bring prosperity to the Siau Tagulandang Biaro Islands Regency.

This tradition is not only a cultural heritage but also serves as a reminder for all members of the community to work diligently, prioritize unity, and preserve the traditional values passed down through generations.
